Our mission is to identify and effectively address community needs by mobilizing the caring power of businesses, organizations and individuals. The United Way of Franklin County is the leadership and support organization for 18 community partners. We act as a central fund raising and volunteer recruitment resource for nonprofit agencies that make a difference in people's lives.

You can be assured that your gift to the United Way of Franklin County goes directly to fund programs that help people most in need. The United Way conducts periodic needs assessments to ensure donor dollars are addressing pressing community needs. We also monitor funding programs and initiatives semiannually to make sure they are efficiently and effectively improving people's lives and making a positive impact right here in our community.
The United Way will provide grant funds through our corporate and individual donations to fund effective approaches that expand volunteering, strengthen the capacity of volunteer mentoring organizations, and develop strategies to effectively use volunteers and mentors to solve problems. In order to receive funding from the United Way of Franklin County one must be a community partner and have completed an in-depth grant application describing what their needs are, how the funds will positively impact the community, goal and impact of project(s) being funded. A detailed objective and budget are also required to be submitted and how success will be measured. Community partners will also report to the United Way of Franklin County progress updates including number of people served with grant funding along with volunteers used and hours logged. Community Partners will be visited annually by the United Way of Franklin County to do a site visit and attend in-person monitoring review to update board of directors on how funds are being used. An update on funding status is provided to the United Way of Franklin County twice a year, each time prior to making grant distribution to confirm funds are being used appropriately. If Community Partners are out of compliance and not meeting standards, the United Way of Franklin County has the right to reduce grant funding. We keep our community top priority ensuring funds are going to direct vital human services to Franklin County residents.
