2014 United Way Sumo Wrestling Invitational

Join us for the 2014 Sumo Wrestling Invitational to be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on April 25, in the Wilson Field House at Ottawa University.  Companies and organizations select a representative willing to dress up in a silly sumo suit and be their sumo wrestling champion.  The organization’s “champ” will then compete against representatives from challenging companies and organizations.

Why a Sumo Wrestling Event:  Our goal is to raise $160,000 in 2014.  These funds will be distributed between the agencies listed below and will be used to provide vital, direct services for Franklin County residents in need.  With $154,000 raised to date, it is our hope that the Sumo Wrestling Invitational will help us meet this challenge.

United Way of Franklin County’s 2014 member agencies include the American Red Cross, Big Brothers Big Sisters, CASA, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Communities in Schools, ECKAN, Elizabeth Layton Center, Habitat for Humanity, Hope House, LifeCare Center for Women, Mid-America Nutrition Program, Inc. (Meals on Wheels), Midland Care Hospice, tiny-k Early Intervention (Ottawa/Wellsville Infant Toddler), Ottawa Recreation Foundation’s Summer Playground Program, United Cerebral Palsy and The Willow Domestic Violence Center.

How You Can Help Make the Sumo Wrestling Invitational a Success:  Simply contact United Way of Franklin County to participate, sponsor the event or to attend the event at Ottawa University’s Wilson Field House.

Please encourage everyone you know and their families to attend!  While tickets will be sold at the door, we would prefer to have supporters RSVP!

Student admission: $1.00 a person

General admission: $5.00 a person

Floor seats (front row): $10 a person

Box seats: $25 a person (these box seats will be in the front row and will include free snacks and drinks provided by a personal attendant)

When you sign up today, you will help us continue to provide Franklin County residents with many of the most vital social services needed in our community!  Please join us!  Thank you for your support!
