Country Mart To Help Kick Off Annual United Way of Franklin County Campaign With Cookout!
Ottawa, KS- On Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6 Ottawa Country Mart will kick-off the county’s 2013 United Way of Franklin County Association Campaign by hosting its annual cookout event in the store’s parking lot. The event, which Country Mart has consistently hosted in past years, is open to the public and is the largest one-day fundraising event for the United Way of Franklin County Association.
“The Country Mart cookout has become a community tradition that we are proud to be part of each year,” said Director Meg Pearson.”
How the fundraiser works: Country Mart is donating hot dogs, bratwursts and all of the “fixings” and American Eagle Outfitters, Wal-Mart DC and other community volunteers will cook them, and they will be given away to participants for a suggested donation of $2.00. In addition, United Way will give away balloons on the sticks donated by Turner Flowers for a suggested donation of a $1.00. All proceeds will help fund direct services in Franklin County.
Other fun activities sponsored by Advantage Ford, Peoples Bank and Kansas State include a coloring competition for kids, new car and truck test drives and station where cookout goers can learn more about United Way and the member agencies it supports. All proceeds from the day’s events benefit the 15 Franklin County nonprofits in the association.
